Scion attracts some of the most youthful consumers in the auto industry through its innovative and trend-setting products, savvy marketing and the cutting-edge style, affordability and reliability of its cars.

Considering the huge variety of accessories and customization products available for personalizing Scions, it’s little wonder the brand is a favorite of “tuners,” that dedicated group of owners who spend considerable time and money modifying their cars for performance and looks. And they’re spirited almost beyond description, as the annual “Scion Exposed” gathering confirms.

Held since 2004 and sponsored by Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (“SET”), the free public event—part car show, part pep rally and a wholehearted celebration of all things Scion—welcomes all Scion owners. It’s one way SET can recognize and give back to one of the world’s most passionate and active groups of car owners.

While always held in one of the five Southeastern states in which SET has its dealer network—Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina (this year’s, version “8.0,” took place in February in Jacksonville, Florida)—participants, often arriving in Scion caravans, have come from as far as Alaska, California and Canada.

A turnout of more than 1,000 registered owners and enthusiasts is not unusual, drawn by the appealing combination of special events such as contests, music, giveaways (including a complimentary lunch) and family-friendly games and activities that are part of every Scion Exposed. Vendors are invited to sell or raffle off their products. But it’s the customized cars always on display, from “mild to wild,” that are the stars. Professional judges award trophies in various categories including “Best Themed Car” and “Best in Show.”

Any way you look at it, Scion Exposed is a hit with the “Scion Nation.” A quick online search yields numerous links to Scion forums, groups and clubs, where comments, pictures and even video clips are posted. “This show ROCKED!!,” one Scion owner commented on a club site after last year’s event. Wrote another: “To those I met it was a pleasure. To the ones I didn’t, maybe next year. . . .I never get enough of looking at sweet rides, and the Scion community has some of the sweetest around.”
